how many of these ms shield threads are there. shield drops by chance. no monster drops MOST

thats just not true, some monsters have higher drops rates, though the monsters with lower rates tend to have better spawn.

Go to bubblings. My first shield there took three hours, and about 9,000 kills. Then I went to cube slimes, and a shield took 7 hours to drop, with roughly 16,000 kills. Then I went back to bubblings, got lucky, and found a shield in less than ten minutes.
