| But that's beside the point. I'm moving to Europe soon... and I know that my friends in Scotland can't make accounts for GMS. So how would I go about playing GMS in Europe? Will I have to start alllllllllll the way over? I read somewhere that an account has to be a certain age so that it can play GMS in Europe. Is that true? As many details as possible, please. And thanks in advance for the help. |

 | The game is still global, the division is in America so it's called Nexon of America. Anyway, if you have a gMS account, you can play gMS in europe. |

| I used to live in the US, but I moved to Germany this year. Even if you have a GMS account, you can't play GMS. You need an EMS account that was made before the cut-off date. You can always use a proxy or a VPN, but... =/ |

 | Maple "global" was just temporary. they made it to expose maplestory to the rest of the world outside Asia, now that the game has taken off and more and more versions are being added, it seems less global. "global" dosent really mean for everyone, it means its for everyone without THEIR OWN version to play. and since europe has their own version, go away, thank-you come again. |

Are you out of your mind? "Global" doesn't really mean for everyone? Then what does "global" mean in the imaginary land that is your world? I'm not sure what you think it means, but anyone can tell you that global means the entire world. So if the title of the game (at one point in time) was GLOBAL Maple Story, then it meant it was UNIVERSAL. Everyone should have been able to play it REGARDLESS of what country they were from. Whether or not it was just a ruse to sucker people in from other countries is far from the point. Saying something is global when it's not global is false advertising (and they still refer to it as global on nexon) and if I would have known that it wasn't actually global like they advertised, I would have waited before making an account. Maybe you should buy a dictionary so that next time you can have a valid argument. Thanks to everyone else who gave such awesome responses and shed light on the situation. I hate it when people are jerks to someone for just asking a simple question. |

Global maplestory was a haven for people without their own version of maple story, and it was even stated that if maplestory does well, other versions for each regoin would come out. and was again officialy stated that when the new regions came out, they would be restricted to that region to encourage people to play with their neighbours in a sence. now go ahead and take everything literally, and see where that gets you in life. |

| this is the last time im gonna say it...gms is run by nexon america. There is a reason for mapleeurope. Global means it has finally reached GLOBAL proportions. Not just the eastern side of the world, but now the west. It is now GLOBAL. The version ITSELF IS NOT GLOBAL, but the GAME now is. |

| andylihoa said: "lol what for...? As a way to "populate" MapleEuro? I don't see any downside of Europeans joins GMS..." EMS was created after GMS, their ultimate goal is to have ms for regions. That way its easier to control CS prices, less lag due to geographic server placement and less problems customer problems. Maple story grows fast, they are also trying to separate MS into regions to make it easier for them to deal with technical problems. With every new region opening, GMS is more and more MS for North American region. Splitting the game into regions also helps to deal with advertising. |
