At a local Earth Day festival, some vegitarians got offended that they were selling meat products. In one letter to a newspaper one such vegetarian expressed their outrage: "Earth Day should value all living creatures. By having meat vendors out there, they were disrespecting the whole point of the day! On Earth Day, we should not eat and disrespect any living being!" ...and yes, there are two major ironies in this. One is that fine, let's respect nature, but there are also carnivores in nature....so yeah. But the bigger irony is that plants are living beings! If we follow this advice, no human being would be able to eat anything, seeing how plants are living beings.

Earth Day has nothing to do with eating meat or not. It has to do with saving energy, cleaning up pollution etc.
