Well, after about 6-7 years my good old dell at last gave up and died, so.. time to get a new computer. im looking to buy a computer strong enough to run Crysis on the highest details and still dish out about 45-50 Fps. im thinking about an i7 920, and for a strong grafics card probably radeon HD 4870x2 but im still not sure on how strong it will be..ideas?

If you're looking for something that can run crysis on maximum settings, I would strongly recommend building the computer instead of buying. Not a lot (I havnt really seen or checked lately) of prebuilt computers would be able to dish out 50fps on that sort of game and setting.

How much are you willing to spend on this PC?

We need your budget, and resolution. If Crysis is your main benchmark, then currently, if you play at WQUXGA, there is no system out there that can play Crysis completely maxed out with and x16AA( and forced x16AF) and get 40-50fps. Period. Instead of trying to be like all of the other benchmark ( insert random diss here ), how about you get a system that will actually suit your needs for the games you actually play, and if you still play a Crysis, then I pity you. When games support SLI/Xfire better, and drivers work better with multiple cards, then games like this wont be nearly as intensive with SLI/Xfire, until then, both suck.

You can try this if you want... but it's kinda overkill to get 45+fps on Crysis maxed settings already >_> Honestly speaking, I never really needed a high framerate on any shooter I've played to be good at it. Any game (except maybe rhythm games) with a framerate of over 25 is playable IMO.

azn011Like above have said, what's your price range?

azn011 said: "Like above have said, what's your price range?" and you have to ask if hes building it himself or not. IMO you won't get a cheap computer with the components you want. It would be way cheaper to build it yourself.
