I promise I've read through guides and stuff... but I'm still really confused. What's the best build for 1st job? Like, some of the guides say 11/20 s-kick.. some say max... so confused D: and, do people make specialty gunners? Like, people make dexless sins, and luckless mages.. do people make like.. str-less gunners? and how many of which stat = 1 atk? and what would the best equips be for levels 30-50? sorry, i know these questions are really bad.. but.. i'm making a new char.. and.. yeah. thanks in advance :]

The 1st job build, is debatable. I personally went 20 ssk, because its very helpful at sandrats. I max'd bt instead of grenade, (Which is never useful, contrary to the use of SSK in first, and early 2nd job. I still use SSK to mob Windraiders together.) -1st job build- Max Double Shot Max Dash Max SSK 11 bullet time. Str-less gunners, arn't worth the time. Gunslingers damage formula favours weapon attack, over dex. And, I believe 5dex=1 wep att. The best equips are really whatever you can get. Dex shoes, overalls, earrings, A GOOD WEAPON (Important), and maybe even a dex face accessory if your rolling in it, haha. At 50, a pac/dep/helm are useful. If you can, possibly a dex FS. Other then that, though. And it's good to ask questions. It's how you learn. Hope this lengthy responce helped!

" That's not how it works o-o Our damage formula looks almost exactly like the damage formula for every other class except mages. The simplified form (ignoring STR) would be (multipliers)*dex*weapon attack. The more weapon attack you have, the more dex matters. The more dex you have, the more weapon attack matters. Since at high levels your dex is going to look like 8xx and your weapon attack is only going to be 1xx, each weapon attack is going to be worth more than one dex. The formula is pretty much the same for sins, except the multipliers are different and it's based on LUK. All [secondary stat]-less classes are only good for lower levels and quickly become useless at high levels. Same applies to guns. I went with max Bullet Time in 1st job, because SSK barely helps at all and becomes useless in 2nd job, while 9 avoid always helps a little bit.

Looks like i've learned something then.

it really depends on whether you feel that you need s-kick to use when you run out of stars, need more accuary and avobility with the pirate version of nimble body or dash for speed.

Bullets.and you really should never run out. You should always haves around 8 set of bullets....one you have maxed mastery you can carry more than that....you should be able to train for 2 hours before you have to repot and get more bullets
camparksam 05/05/09 + PM | QUOTE | PERMALINK | REPORT
Uh, the first job thing is really a matter of opinion. Some people say SSK because it helps a little with training early on. Some say that since neither skill really matters in the end, the extra 9 avoid all the time is better than a skill that just sits unused at all (I'm with these people, I maxed BT). But it doesn't make that big of a difference, and if it's really that big of a deal to you, you can just max the one you didn't at the end of 2nd job with your free point. Str-less is not a good idea. It's pretty much always best to have the highest weapon attack possible, which means that you always need to have enough STR to equip the best gun for your level. Whether you get that STR through equips or adding points to your base is really just up to how you want to do it.The Weapon attack thing is a little bit more confusing, but Efemera pretty much covered it as best I'd know how to. As for equips, pretty much whatever. Just remember that weapon attack is most important from equips, and STR=DEX, because whatever you have on your equips in one area you can put into your other area in base, making them equal priorities. I hope that answers all of your questions.

SSK wont really help much so dont worry. BT will be mUch better. If u were to do HPQ, get SSK to 1, and u can try to lure. then BT should be maxed (whenever. Not directly after 1 SSK) Just, dont max SSK. I almost did cause I thought i might need some melee. It's just been useless to me.
mearesmrt 05/05/09 + PM | QUOTE | PERMALINK | REPORT
well if you cpq, i would think ssk would help, especially in rm 3/4 and as for equips, just get the usual: dex bathrobe, atk wg, zhelm, atk pac, dex purple snowshoes, dex earrings, high attack gun hard to come by though) and yeah...good luck on your slinger :D
FroznSolid May 06 2009 + PM | QUOTE | PERMALINK | REPORT
FroznSolidBest Build: SSK HANDS-DOWN. While hte skill is obsolete after lv 35, it provides a great boost to damage and killing ability. I grinded at sand rats with it, getting near 40% an hour at lv 34~35 (mob all to one side, SSK to kill) without 2x. It helps you to be able to lv fairly quickly until you are useful in CPQ (lv 34-37). Str-less gunners, frankly, would fail. sure they sould be stronger at the maple weapon lv's (25/42/64). Why? Because up to the lv 60 gun, 10 increase in STR gives you a 9 increase in atk. and 1 dex isn't more important then 1 atk. The only speciality i've seen is in skill builds (going recoil first, maxing grenade, etc etc) equips for lv 30-50? sauna or bathrobe (i reccomend bathrobe for speed) w/ any dex (i have 10) dex, 1 dex lv 30 shoes (or a dex snowshoe if u can afford one), 3 dex green bamboo hat, a wg, dex cape. EDIT: to expand on maxing Bullet Time vs SSK SSK helps you in room 3/4 (credits to mearesmrt, i can't believe i didn't think of this ), whereas bullet time just adds acc and avoid. acc and avoid are added easily by dex, so the increase is nearly useless, but SSK helps to lv up quicker until you can CPQ EDIT2: you max Bullet Time at the end of 2nd anyway, so its not like you lose the skill.
Efemera May 06 2009 + PM | QUOTE | PERMALINK | REPORT
Getting BT at the end of 2nd job is a good idea, but since when was 40%/hr a good levelling speed at level 34? You'll level twice an hour in CPQ depending on how fast you can find games. SSK is lol worse than lightning in 3/4. All the pro-SSK posts make it seem like you're going to spend more 10 hours getting to level 40 or something.
XilverXiren 05/06/09 + PM | QUOTE | PERMALINK | REPORT
Actually, I maxed SSK in 1st job and found it useless, it didn't help me at in in CPQ either because SSK depends on STR [so in order to do any kind of real damage you'll need a good warrior weapon]. I maxed BT as soon as I could because while DEX may give you a load of ACC, it only gives you 1 Avoid per lvl [with such low HP you'll need it]. Anyway, you'll end up maxing both in the end, seeing as Grenade is even more useless.

ehh off topic: To make a gunslinger is it best to go reg str. and use dex equips?
