Quake said: "under water . water is wet. you are wet. /captainobvious" Water is not wet. Water, however, is the primary cause of wetness. The way I see it, you are not wet until you go in the water, and then come out. This is because in my opinion, the definition of "wetness" or "wet" is haveing water on an object or on one's self where it (the water) is out of place. When you are underwater, you are surrounded by waters, so you are simply a being withing the water, and not wet, because the water is within it's normal parameters. Once you step out, though, you are covered with water, in an area where water is not normally (sand, ground, the bathroom floor, etc.), so then you can be classified as wet. Also, "wet" only refers to external, so please no people going, "Oh well we have H2O in our bodies so we're all wet!" That is internal. Edit: @ Desmond: I did.

I guess if you held a cup of water and you were underneath it, then you wouldn't be wet and you would still be "under" water right?

gimmini said: "If water goes underwater, does IT get wet?" No, water is the cause of wetness, therefore it does not "become" wet. It simply becomes one with the other body/ entity of water.
