Is "sexting" really part of the teenage lexicon

I have a hard time believing that anyone actually calls it that. Sounds like something that was invented to make the practice seem like a common fad among kids (kind of like Rainbow Parties, except those didn't even exist to begin with).

Some lame term threw into teen jargon by old people (somehow i do not know). But people at my school and girls I know that do it just call it "T**ty pics"
