than someone else's life? Any person's life in general. If it came down to you and one other person about to be killed - would you offer yours to save theirs? Would it depend on the person? If it came down to you and a family member.

Depends who it is. I would die for either of my best friends. But thats it. Just cause Ive known them for nearly 12 years o.O

No, all life is equal in my eyes.

being honest I wouldn't die for some stranger, but I have a amount of people that I would die for.

Oh lol. We had that discussion in Bio on Thursday. Bio teacher says that biologically, every organism, both human and non, has the primal instinct of self preservation. Therefore, in a general population, the answer to your question is yes, everyone values their life over anothers on a very basic level. However, when you factor in altruism and the sense of morality and conscience that pervades every human that's not a hermit (not intentionally related to MS =,=), then most people will give their life for a family member/close friend if they feel that that person can make more of their life than he/she him/herself can. Of course, this sense of altruism and morality is conflicted when the choice is to save a murderer, rapist, child molester etc., that by the time the person has come to a conclusion, the person in danger has probably already died =,=;; Personally, yes, I would give my life for most people. Family, friend, or stranger...

I do believe that my life is worth more than that of someone else. However, under almost every circumstance, I would offer my life instead of theirs.

wouldn't me dying to save their life make me worth more?

Two innocent lives cannot be weighed against one another. If it's some random person, prolly not. but if they were special to me, then of course.

Giving my life for someone else's would seem kind of selfish to me, to a certain extent. I'd get away from everything, just drop all my problems, in a way that would glorify me and make me seem like a hero. To be honest, I wouldn't give my life for anyone.

I value my life and those of the people I love more than random strangers. Everyone is like that, so don't pretend otherwise.

Humans are so selfish

mskillaboyPeople are so selfish... I would die for the stranger, because I have no loved ones anymore. I have blocked out that emotion, and even if it were the ugliest, dirtiest low life in the world, I would give up my horrible, miserable "life" to save him. Even though I died for the stranger, I am still selfish. I only died to save someone else, making me feel a sense of goodness within me. That goodness is something I want in return, for my "act of selflessness," when in reality, I have been selfish this whole time

It would depend on the person, because many people in this world don't deserve to live meow.
maxdo24 05/02/09 + PM | QUOTE | PERMALINK | REPORT
Family, no. Depends who the person is and how they might die. If it's a gunshot, I'd do an epic jump. If it was slow and painful... I'd have to think on that one.
