Guys hanging out with Girls

Why is it that since I'm a guy, everytime I hang out with a girl at her house, my house or anywhere private that it is assumed that we did "SOMETHING". I know your guy friends are always going to be like "You were with [such-such] at your house.. give me inside scoop" but even my parents is starting to think that way as well. Why is it so hard to believe that I can chill with a girl and just watch tv or goof around and have fun. It doesn't have to be about getting in their pants.. Now, weekends when I leave my house to go out and chill with friends or go to the mall, movies, bowling, etc she is always like... "Are you coming home tonight? If I say no then her next question is always "Well, make sure you use protection" Like really what the hell is going on? Did I miss something? Does everyone treat you differently like this? I turned 18 two months ago and it seemed like everyone view on me changed drastically. I'm no longer the nice/innocent guy in the eyes of anyone. I just find it weird.. If I had to take an estimate I'd say 75% of my friends are girls.. Half of them have boyfriends.. I almost feel bad hanging out with them because of what people might think.. I don't care what people think, but rumors can seriously ruin someone's reputation. Is this happening to anyone else? Do you ever feel like your friends/parents are putting you in a category as the typical teen or immature student?

People come to the common knowledge now that if a boy and a girl are together, they possibly did something inaproppriate, even if they are friends and did not do such a thing. This is probably due to tons of stereotypes; advertisements, movies, publications that promoted such stereotypes.

Everytime I come home late, my mom ALWAYS assumes I was with some guy having sex or fooling around. Even if I WERE with a guy, it doesn't mean I'm doing anything with them. She won't even let me sleep over my bestfriends house because she has a fraternal brother. She thinks he's going to take advantage of me or something. Honestly? Trevor treats me like his own sister. Its just tough love between us. Nothing more.

Nothing more." yeah, my mom won't let me sleep over anyone's house if they have an older brother. eh, whenever i hang out with guys, it's in a group setting, so i don't even bother telling my mom, because she'd probably freak out for nothing. :/

Besides some of the things I do would seem a little strange... If two guys stay up until 3/4am on the phone talking about their future and personal matter.. People are probably going to think something of it unless you two are BFFs.. Whereas with girls, I can talk as long as I want and no one cares. I've learned to have fun no matter what I'm doing from shopping to football to talking on the phone to just going out to eat with friends. @The post below.. Yeah, I use protection..
