That whole family thing is non-applicable. You can't just combine different units together. Apples + Oranges != Grapefruit. Always remember your units. If your units is human, then it would work like this: 2 + 1 = 3. 2 = the parents. 1 = the child that is then made. 3 = The whole family. + = the act of making a child. Also, you disregard insignificant digits when doing the arithmetic. 1 is just 1, not 1.5 with the decimals hidden. You must specify your significant digits, too.
