BSOD being caused by maple?

I'm pretty sure many have already posted something along these lines, I've gone through search, nothing helped me. I've also googled this issue, nothing comes up that is helping me. Now, this laptop has ran maple fine for a long time. It has more then enough of the Req. for it to run. I've ran many virus scans, hell I've gone as far as reformatting. But as soon as I install maple, my computer starts to act up. I can start it up, login. Even walk around for a while. But randomly, it will just glitch out, causing a splash of random pixels thrown all over my screen, kind of like it breaks up. Then I'll get a BSOD, which also looks messed up, and unable to read anything on it. I've tried anything I know to fix this, so..if anyone has any ideas, throw them at me..

computer specs will help and hopefully people don't run in here yelling "are you running vista?"

Ah, true enough. Yes it's Vista(unfortunately). I have 2 gigs of ram. Graphics card is a Nvidia geforce 8400m gs. Iunno, what else you need?

If you using Comodo, you have to uninstall it :P. It causes something that gives vista comptuers BSOD's...

hm, the fact that its bsod'ing with a graphical error makes it sound like its something hardware and/or software compatibility error. Are you running at least direct-x 9.0c? If so, try minimizing any aero effect and what not in vista. Run the setup file in the nexon folder once to set a working refresh rate / screen size. Other than that make sure your graphic drivers are the latest.

Would you mind posting the BSOD error. Its most likely hardware related because it only happens when you play a game. Probably your video card..

I have Vista too, but at times I get BSOD at login screen. On windows XP, its fine.

i had the same problem, first 5 months were just fine then for some reason it would BSOD every once in a while, now everytime i even get past the login screen its pretty much instant, i think it was one of their updates that really screwed everything up for vista, only thing i can look to now is a maple combatibility for windows 7 (aka vista 2)

A lot of people I know have no issues running it. Fyi : I'm running Vista Home Premium and it runs fine. Edit : actually for you if it was running fine for that long then it gradually started to BSOD then something might have overheated for you. I don't know if any of you notice but running ms does cause fans to basically run nonstop for some reason.

It didn't just gradually start to do it. After maple went through its last Sc, is when it started. edit:: It also seems a small scale of people are having this issue too, so I'm not thinking this is limited to just my stuff.

I had a problem where maple crashed my computer too, and led to a BSOD. I uninstalled COMODO Firewall last night which did the trick. I hadn't been able to play maple for a month because of that.

I don't have comodo. So that wouldn't be the problem.

runepl8user said: " i am running Vista Home Premium aswell, there is no way that it is a cooling problem because i have an external fan from my old pc that i use on this one, and please dont say "omg u has no RAM" i have more than enough, the only thing i can think of is a botched update or my pc just doesnt like maple story anymore" cooling is way more than just fans it depends on the heatsink size, heatsink material, heatsink base flatness, heatsink type (HDT or baseplate, or chunk of aluminum), CPU flatness, amount of TIM in between them, contact area between them, arm flow, and dust build up to list a few CPUs run unstable under large amounts of heat, even if a laptop processor can handle 100C on average, it shouldn't run anything near that the GPU can also be overheating, but those can usually take ~120C if it is dedicated, otherwise, if it is integrated, it shouldn't be running hotter than 70C at the most i would check the laptop for dust build up and clean it out
