I've done it on 3 diff types of monsters on diff continents and both don't follow puppet. And I do it after I hit the monsters.

Where? Maps with other people in them tend to mess up Puppet a little. You'll need to attack the monster a bit more to get its full attention. I just went to Squids like 20 minutes ago, and it worked fine.

Monsters lose interest in you after a short period of time if you're not within their range. I think that time period got shorter. Went to squids today and puppet failed me unless I cast it right away or cast within 1-2 seconds of attacking the mob.
