The cause of my lag?

I've been trying to figure out why my laptop lags. I've searched through many threads but can't seem to figure out what it is that is causing my own lag. While playing, I don't really lag when I'm by myself, but when lots of people are around (like FM entrance) or when skills are being spammed (like at boss runs) my laptop gets really laggy and I basically freeze up and in most cases disconnect eventually. I'm not that experienced in computer tech, so I'll just list as much information about my laptop as I can think of: - Windows XP Home Edition, Version 2002, Service Pack 3 - Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.40 GHz 2.39 GHz, 512 MB of RAM. (From My Computer>Properties) - Mobility Radeon 7500 Graphics Card - link (Speedtest.net results) - C: Drive Space: 27.1 GB used, 10.0 GB free, 37.2 GB capacity So far my assumptions have been either my graphics card, my ISP, or the fact my laptop is fairly old (from 2002). If I have forgotten any piece of information, please let me know and I will post it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

i think ram or cpu, cuz maplestory i think isn't really a graphic intensive game

It looks like the RAM is the cause of all your problems, 512 MB is just enough for Maple, but there's still a chance that it can run like crap.

link If your using google chrome, it won't work, it does for Firefox, and I'm not sure for IE.

If possible try upgrading to 1gb of RAM or even 2gb. If you need help just PM me.

hmm better try this way better, u only have 10gb free space thats gonna cause most of the lag u need more than that 1 way to format for free space is this try this 30 day free trail cuz i did and it worked for me i only got 224mb of ram which sucks Tune up utilities 2009 30 day trail download try it to free up space and unnessary files

It is definately the RAM, 512 is minimal for XP. You need at least 1 GB to run it nicely, and Maple will thank you for it.

Try Auslogis Boost Speed. Do all the scans and tweaks and see if they help. They helped me Yeah, 512 MB of RAM is a bit low, especially for a computer with the CPU and graphics card of yours. You should have ATLEAST 1 GB RAM. link

one thing i learned after 2 years of playing maplestory, laptops always lag. Even if they don't now they will eventually it always happened to me... my advice, play on a desktop, i started playing on a desktop and i never lag.
