Heyyy everyoneee ~ After posting an reading replys to my topic about which skill is better [Arrow blow vs. Double shot], I was this sticky where detailed calculations proved that Double Shot is in fact more stronger, and should be used from jobs 1-3. Now.. The weird thing is: I am currently a level 20 archer, going crossbowman, and I have level 1 arrow blow [like everyone], along with level 9 double shot. I shot my double shot, and it gave i believe around..86 and 68. Then, when I shot 1 arrow blow, it hit about..208. Arrow blow did significantly higher, at a significantly lower level. Will double shot eventually balance out as I level up? Or is Arrow Blow really the skill I should have been leveling all this time? Thanks in advance! - Zain [P.S]: Sorry if this was already posted. Im really bad at searching. +lazy. [ EDIT: April 24th, 10:09pm] Fimbu1vetr said: "Lv 1 AB is 190% or something, so its stronger than DS at first, but by lv 20, DS>AB" That's the answer! Thanks everyoneee.

dude if u were goin crossbowman arrow blow mighta been better but w/e most ppl max double shot becuz bowman dmg is relatively unstable mastery doesnt really make ur dmg stable, just not AS unstable as first job bowman arrow blow, on the otherhand, is wat its called, an arrow with a strong blow its strong in first job becuz of the extra boost double shot sux at first job but will eventually beat blow with mastery tho if u were gnna be a crossbowman, most xbowman max out arrow blow due to the knockback power but w/e good luck with ur xbowman!

It'll eventually be replaced anyways, so don't worry so much about it. However, it's considered the standard that archers have double shot.

I believe arrow blow has a closer range, while double shot has a more spread out. DS has a chance to do better than AB.

Level 1 Arrow Blow deals 141% basic attack. Level 9 Double Shot deals 96% basic attack each arrow. If you add up the two arrows from DS, you made 144 damage. The damage difference is not weird at all, because you are just separating your damage into two arrows. @ below: Copy Pasta? -___-

Level 19 Arrow Blow costs 13 Mp and one arrow to deal 283% damage before Critical Shot is added (see Level 19 Arrow Blow). Maxed Arrow Blow costs 14 MP and one arrow to deal 260% damage before Critical Shot is added. Maxed Double Shot costs 16 MP and two arrows to do 130% damage each before Critical Shot is added, twice. Seeing that maximized Critical Shot adds 100% damage 40% of the time, it adds an average of 40% to each attack. Because it is added twice to Double Shot, the final damage tabulations are: 19 Arrow Blow without Critical Shot: 283% min 19 Arrow Blow average: 283% + 40% = 323% average 19 Arrow Blow with a Critical Shot: 383% max 20 Arrow Blow without Critical Shot: 260% min 20 Arrow Blow average: 260% + 40% = 300% average 20 Arrow Blow with a Critical Shot: 260% + 100% = 360% max 20 Double Shot with no Critical Shots: 130% * 2 = 260% min 20 Double Shot average: (130% + 40%) * 2 = 340% average 20 Double Shot with two Critical Shots: (130% + 100%) * 2 = 460% max Obviously, Double Shot does more overall damage. There are a few additional concerns, however. Because 19 Arrow Blow hits at a maximum 383%, whereas Double Shot hits a maximum of 230% each, there is a better chance to KB some monsters at higher levels. Furthermore, Arrow Blow with Critical Shot causes the greatest single-hit damage available to a Bowman (excluding Pierce and Snipe), meaning that it can be used forever as a KB skill. However, causing KB damage isn't as important as killing the monster outright, and in nearly all forms of training, damage over time is the primary issue. Double Shot, costing 2 or 3 more MP than Arrow Blow, is more expensive to train with, using more MP potions over time. This handicap is of much more interest to a poor Bowman than a rich one, however, the Meso loss from the increased Potion consumption is almost negligible. Strafe uses much more MP than both Arrow Blow and Double Shot; it costs 32 MP. Arrow Blow can be used in third job as a finisher, so as to save 18 or 19 MP per shot. One common myth in the Bowman world is that of monster DEF. Studies have proven that monster DEF reduces your raw damage, not damage on a by-hit basis. The Arrow Blow and Double Shot damage modifiers are not affected in any way; they still deal the same damage. Another myth is that Critical Shot doubles your damage, this is most certainly untrue. Compare a Bowman with maxed Arrow Blow and a Bowman with maxed Double Shot (make sure their equipment are similar) and youll see that Double Shot will do more total damage, rather than them both dealing the same damage. To summarize, Double Shot does more average damage and costs slightly more in terms of MP potions (though a 2 or 3 MP difference is a small loss), while Arrow Blow has greater Knockback damage, but is less efficient overall.

so many thread about 1st job attacking skills. It dont matter youll still live, jeez. The MOST important skill that should be max is the range and crit. I failed to see the point between "ab vs ds" bs. Both of them are good, just pick one and max it. MORE PERCENTAGE = MORE DAMAGE...duhh

Wow. I'm not trying to offend you when I say, please don't give anyone advice on their skills. There is so much wrong with what you just said. @TS: do you have max crit? Because part of what makes DS consistently stronger than AB is that it gives you double the crit potential. Also, it doesn't sound like you've actually tested this. IT sounds like you're just taking some rough idea of your average for both your skills, and I seriously doubt your estimates are accurate. |

It depends on your crit level. DS is only powered up above AB because of crit. To the guy who said Xbowmen should use AB where did you get that from? DS is in general stronger while AB gives better KB.
