Maybe they like to call it marriage. Like most people in this world call this "state union" thing, we call it marriage.

Why would you want to get married anyway, I don't see the point of commitment, if it were me I'd go out with someone for a bit then when I get bored I'd say "Next!".

Where do you get the premise that marriage is meant for a man and woman only? Your religion? What about people who don't believe in your religion but still want a validated ceremony that celebrates their commitment?

Like most people in this world call this "state union" thing, we call it marriage." Marriage is a holy ritual practiced by religious people that is upheld by the law and legal. Civil and state unions are just legally bounding two people together it is not a holy ritual at all. So no we do not call someone getting a civil or state union marriage because its not marriage and they choose to get those because they do not have a religious background and or do not belong to a religious group so they do not get married.

No. Marriage is religious. I don't understand why gays, who defy religion, want to get married. There are other ways to legally make you "live with someone".

People that do not belong to a religious group or have a religious back ground get civil or state unions and not marriage because they do not believe in marriage. Hope that answered your question or cleared it up for you.

Homosexuality didn't defy Buddhism. Marriage has benefits, aside from "legally [making] you 'live with someone'". And love is completely out of the window so no point in talking about that since you seem to not understand the hugest concept in marriage.

Marriage should be about love, and love is not limited between a man and a women.

Homosexuality or any attachment to others defies Buddhism because it speaks out against attachments to others and civil unions and state unions and marriage is attaching yourself to something. Oh and the hugest concept of marriage is so you can reproduce because it is believed to be a sin in religion to have sexual intercourse out of wed lock and that it is Gods will for you to reproduce.
