I think Gringo is one of those racial slurs? Like Jap is to Japanese and Gringo is to English Speakers?

It's to identify U.S. Citizens... well... just searched it up in wiki and that's what it said...

Gringo=White person. Wait are you from the Philippines? If so, I happened to live there for a year with my family (Related to Filipinos BTW) and I noticed the things that they consider "Taboo" are just honestly stupid.

They just love those things... Witch doctors are famous here >_>" though my family doesn't strongly believe in those kind of things... Filipinos are just crazy... I wanted to get out of here and live in Europe >_>"

I knew it. I loved the Philippines, it's just that the humor that they have their is lame. I only met TWO honestly normal people there. Two people I could actually sit down and talk to without having them ask me for money and whatnot.

Well, finally it's the white people's turn. My real reply is: Ignore it.

"Can I have 5 pesos? 10 pesos? 15? 20? 100?" gosh... then my mom goes: "it's better to give than to receive" and those other kind of quotes...

Kano is a term in filipino to call a white person, err, white. EDIT: Gringo is translated to 'People' in english. Sources: Parents

In the Mexican American War (1846-1848), the U.S army had green uniforms (not the best camo huh?). Obviously the Mexican citizen did not want soldiers of a foreign country in their land, so whenever they saw soldiers, they would saw (in English, duh, otherwise the soldiers wouldn't understand it) Green, go! Over time it got condensed into a more easier to say green go in Spanish, which is gringo. In Mexico and southern South America, its considered an insult generally, but in the northern areas of South America, its just "American."
