Is it necessary? I would figure that jumping higher would be sort of trivial besides for the purpose of jumping OVER a monster as opposed to taking touch damage, which is a help, but not one that I myself would sacrifice for speed. As I was just shopping for some better shoes, I realized that having Jump as a Warrior is something that is not needed when shoes scrolled for Speed are available at a much lower price as compared to ones scrolled for Jump. I, myself just bought +12 Speed Red Snowshoes (replacing clean Blue Carzen Boots) and a clean Icarus Cape (2) with +10 Speed (replacing a 2 ATK clean PAC), and I don't think that I have been happier with a purchase. Feel free to prove me wrong, this is just based on what I was noticing as I was shopping. Additionally, feel free to point out if this is something very obvious that I am just repeating in a useless thread too, because the more I think about it, the more obvious it seems to me.

imo, it pretty much is useless in my idea.

I agree, speed speeds up training so much. YOu can move from monster to monster/mob to mob faster =faster xp. (I have a spearman, I am not talkling about mysin) You might want to scroll the cape for strength though.

I say forget jump. I happily switched my 5 jump 12 STR IC3 for a 8 str 10 speed IC2. Right now with a speed pill, 10 speed shoes, bonehelm, and IC2 I have 138% speed and 105% jump. The speed is great and the jump doesn't make any difference. Supposedly jump is ok for dodging dodge-able magic attacks but other than that its not of much use.

xGrandpaChugBecause the scrolls(10/30/60/70) that adds jump also adds dex. :o

i like my 12 dex shoes and i would never trade them for speed ones

My plan is to have max jump and speed since it will be like having haste all the time, and I function fine with haste. I believe one of the issues with jump though is the fact that you can only attack once in the air.

speed is a great and alternative but if you can afford to become a juggernaut with mad power and be ownin crap then i personally think its better i mean you get there quicker but more dmg is cooler and i think it evens out or juggernaut-ing is better

Doesnt more speed give you more boost with jump anyway?
khermudgeon 04/20/09 + PM | QUOTE | PERMALINK | REPORT
as 1 dex only adds 0.8 acc, scrolling shoes for DEX (which adds acc and not dex) is far superior to scrolling for JUMP (which only adds dex) for a warrior. personally i scroll for speed becasue yes it does make things much faster. IMO my 12 speed shoes are better than any acc shoes i'd get. just from the shoes pants and pet equip i have 130 speed o.o i mean if you're a total no dex damage freak sure, but what speeds up training is not the 50 or w/e base damage difference from saved dex, it's how fast you get from monster to monster. but what would really own is if you can get to the desired acc with the overall or pants AND get speed shoes.

Well, I always thought it'd be nice to be able to have 140 Speed and 120 Jump without buffs =P. Always active haste. I've got a pair of 18 Speed, 5 Jump VSS, and an overall that adds 2 Speed. I'm thinking of getting an either an IC 2 or IC 3, and then I'll try to max out both stats with the aid of pet scrolls.

SenyainIf it were me scrolling the shoes, I wouldn't bother scrolling for just one stat. 30%s for the other two stats add a speed point. Just scroll +2 30% for either dex or jump on a red snowshoe (average 11 snowshoes and 14 scrolls, with a high variance)... that's 10 on either avoid or jump, 6 on either acc or dex, and 2 on speed . That's with 5 slots remaining which you can promptly scroll with 60% speed, and hope for 8 or more speed (just below a 70% chance of happening, with 8 being the median and mode result). Ideally you could get 10 speed (a little over a 1 in 3 chance of this happening) plus the jump/dex/avoid/acc points, and if you went with jump then with only speed pills you've already reached what I call the "minimum for jump" to not be annoying - having twice as much speed added as jump added (for instance, 110 jump 120 speed, or 115 jump 130 speed). Mainly, the thought I have on jump is that while it can be mostly annoying it's useful in 2 other ways than just jumping over enemies: some platforms can be reached faster, and you can avoid fired magic by monsters like Gigantic Spirit Vikings.

an advantage is that you get dex with the jump, but jump itself only helps a little
ColouredCrayons 04/21/09 + PM | QUOTE | PERMALINK | REPORT
Personally, I enjoy having the bonus jump due to the already increase vertical range of Brandish. I pay a bit extra to fork out for 12 DEX shoes instead of ACC ones, but I believe the jump is worth it.
esvil4 04/21/09 + PM | QUOTE | PERMALINK | REPORT
You're pretty much right, although it's worth it to add that small amounts of jump can be beneficial as long as you maintain a good speed:jump ratio. Jump actually SLOWS DOWN TRAINING unless you have enough speed to balance it out. Usually, you should have about 120+ speed for around 5 jump; 130 speed for 5-10 jump and 140 for up to 20.
