Depends on your appearance. Big guys have more use of threaten than little guys.

When the Tespia Patch comes, it will own bosses like Horntail. It'll reduce Boss stats by 20% (or so they say) It will also make Page's more boss friendly.

or if you're in a pq like opq or lpq where there are invisible monsters, you can just threaten them and kill the little floating orange swirly thingies

I had a thread about this a while ago. From what other people said, it isn't required, but takes a few hundred touch damage off of higher level monsters. Also, threaten does NOT work on bosses (last time I tried... a long time ago). Are you planning on putting some points to something else instead? I messed up my stats and did not max threaten so that I could max slash blast (ugh, ended up giving up on my WK due to the crappy stats -- first character). Edit: oh yeah, threaten takes -20 def. and atk away from the monster(s). That is NOT 20%. So, if a monster has 400 def., after threaten, it will have 380 def. I think there comes a point where it is not worth the delay to cast it than to just pound away. =/ [It still will noticably reduce damage you take from a monster's touch though.]
