hello there basil! i am wondering if i should get a an alienware laptop! and before u start telling me the price is too much....dont! i have plenty of money for petes sake!and no im not a hardcore gamer. i just would like a really good laptop!the one i have right now just sucks........ and if u think i shouldnt buy one please recomend a alternative laptop! If you're not a "hardcore gamer" an alienware would be primarily useless. Try some other laptops, maybe the Dell Studio 15, or the XPS m1530. HP: Dv5t series Asus: G50vt Hell, maybe even MSi.

well hp is just out of qeustion....i hate those comps! the reason i really love alienware is because i went on one at my friends hhouse and i fell in love wit it! so fun to custimize it and the pages load in like.00005seconds! also the processe and graphicas card to amazing!

I pity your friend for wasting his money on an alienware, when he couldve gotten a better laptop for cheaper. If you want to pay the $1500+ he likely paid, suit yourself. If you're looking for a higher end gaming laptop, the G50VT-X6 from Best Buy has my vote.

Alienwares are the exact same thing as any other computer on the inside. On the inside, are the components that make the computer run. Those components determine how fast a computer is, not some fancy case with an Alienware sticker slapped on it. Give me, or anyone good with computers the amount of money your friend spent on the Alienware, and we could build you a computer twice as fast for the same price. (roughly)

But of course it depends on the model of Alienware computer; the cheaper models have a somewhat less bloated price tag. (still overpriced either way) In this case, like you said, there's no way you could really build a computer with similar performance for 1/2 the price. But if you're talking about the very highest end Alienware computer, you could get similar performance for 1/3 to 1/2 the price. What no one really brought up in that thread was which specific model of computer was being compared.

If you are not a hard core gamer you do not need a alienware. If you just want a good computer link that should be good enough. You will just be wasting your money with an alienware. Or instead of getting an alienware, get a Mac.

The system being being compared to was from the OP, you could find it in his first link. Core-i7, 9800GTX, 800W PSU ( probably cheap but w/e ) 1333mhz DDR3, 500GB HDD, i7 board for $1100.

Alienware isn't cost-efficient per spec, no matter what kind of laptop you want. Then again Apple isn't either (*Mac fan), so don't go for Alienware nor Apple (if you don't care about Mac OS X).

No way you can get anywhere near half that price.
