Can my computer play MapleStory? If you came into this thread wondering that question, then your in luck! Throughout this thread, I'll go over the minimum system requirements you need to play MapleStory, and also how to improve MapleStory gameplay if your computer was lagging. Minimum System Requirements According to the Nexon website, the minimum system requirements needed in order to play MapleStory are as follows: OS: Windows 98/Me/2K/XP CPU: Pentium 3, 1 Ghz HDD: 1.5GB of free space VGA (Graphics): 3D Acceleration card SOUND: Not Needed NETWORK: 56kbps Modem So what do I really need to play MapleStory? PROCESSER (CPU): As stated on the Nexon site, any processer over 1Ghz should be able to handle MapleStory without any problems. I've tried MS on both a 1.5ghz AMD and a 1.6ghz intel atom, and there were no problems. MEMORY (RAM): Now, this is where some people may start to worry, as this is not stated on the Nexon website. However, if you have over 512 MB of RAM, you'll be fine. I've played MS on a computer with only 256 MB of RAM (with Windows XP), and it still worked (it just took awhile when going through portals for everything to load). If you have Vista, I would not advise attempting to do anything with under 512 MB of RAM. GRAPHICS CARD (VGA): Now, this is what is going to determine if MapleStory is going to lag or not. Any type of newer graphics card should be able to play MapleStory without problems (the size doesn't really matter). However, if you have an onboard grahpics card, you may have some problems. For example, I had a Intel Desktop Board DG965OT motherboard which had a supposedly decent integrated graphics card. When I used this onboard graphics card, MapleStory was laggy as heck. I strongly advise against integrated graphics card, unless your using a laptop. For the OS, any Windows operating system should be able to play MapleStory perfectly fine. For hard drive space, you should always have a decent amount of space free. Sound of course is not needed, and if your reading this article now, your internet connection should be fine. So do you think my computer will actually be able to play MapleStory? Right now, I have a netbook infront of me which is playing MS without any lag (unless I go into the FM of course). This netbook is an Acer Aspire One, which is only a 1.6Ghz Intel Atom processor, Windows XP, 1 GB of RAM, and a 8GB Solid State Hard Drive (along with its sucky integrated graphics card). If this can play MapleStory, and your computer is better, you should have no problems. So, my computer is playing MapleStory, but its really laggy If this is the case, you may have a bunch of junk running in the background which is really slowing your computer down. Follow this short guide to see if this is the problem : 1. Press CTRL + ALT + DELETE (For Vista, then select "Start Task Manager") 2. Click on "Processes". 3. i'm using 4GB RAM with 4.04MBPS... Too good for Maplestory. (vista home premium)

For Vista: ~~~~~~~ System Requirements: Vista computers come with at least 1GB RAM and 80GB Hard Drives... so that part's alright. Even if you have an Integrated Graphics Card (usually the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator), you can still run MS fine, it doesn't need pixel shading. Ending processes is much the same, just right click on your taskbar (the thing at the bottom where your windows are) -> task manager. Go to the processes tab, then click on "Show processes from all users." Processes you can end: Anything to do with Apple; Apple Mobile Device Service, iTunes Helper Module (even if you're running iTunes) Any kind of external background application; Things like Weatherbug, keyloggers, etc. CSS Authentication; that's for CSS encrypted DVD's DKService; one of the modules for Diskkeeper (which is integrated with Vista, useless unless you're defragmenting) Any Windows protection service - Windows Defender, Windows Firewall, that's all a bunch of bull. Also, you can set the priority of your Maplestory.exe process to "High;" do not set it to realtime, your computer will crash. If your RAM is 1GB and you're running Vista, you might also want to end any modules runninng just to clear up some memory. You can end explorer.exe if you need to (as a last resort), just run it again after you're done doing whatever. Most critical system processes will not allow you to end them, with the exception of csrss.exe ~ you will get the Blue Screen if you do. :] If you have a slow startup because of extra programs that don't actually do anything but make you lag, then: Control Panel -> Security -> Windows Defender (there should be a new Defender window) -> Tools (at the top) -> Software Explorer Select Startup programs and remove/disable anything you don't use. meow. :]

Umm....if somebody doesn't even know if their comp can run MS..then they are one person who I would suggest going nowhere near MSCONFIG. Here I just wrote my own guide on this subject Can my PC play MS? Do you have windows installed on your system? Was your PC made within the last 5 years? If you answered yes to these 2 questions you are fully capable of playing MS.

Also instead of closing the programs. I recommend a program called SmartClose with closes all the processes and system services which are useless. It doesn't close anything important. Try it out: link Edit: it doesn't delete them, it just closes them. when you retstart they will all be back.
