Can we reffer someone to a site?

I mean the rules say Advertising other sites is not allowed. This includes but is not limited to referral sites, chain letters and other Maple Story sites. This also includes promoting your thread in somebody elses thread. You are also not allowed to auction or give away characters in the forums. But I don't know what i means.Can we reffer?

No, referral sites are like sites that (usually have a sort of Id at the end) allow the person who is the owner of the link to have a bit of personal gain if you click on it and accept the terms. (Refer a friend and get five points!) These usually cause a lot of spam of those links. Hence the ban on the links.

Advertising is different from referring. Example: Basiler 1:"GET OFF BASIL AND CHECK OUT THIS COOL WEBSITE ITS AWESOME (link)!" That's advertising. Bad. Other example: Basiler 1: Help! Where do I find out ___? Basiler A: That sort of information can be found at (link)

It'd be against the rules for one to post in a thread and say "OMG PLZ ANSWER MY THREAD ____" Likewise however, if a thread is answered in another thread, it's OK to post a link to that thread. Ie: Basiler: Where do I train? Me: Guides.

If a site is good, referring with unique content on that site a little here and there will eventually make it grow.
