Let's face it, basilmarket is probably the most immature forum site in existance. If you visit other sites the users are much more mature and there is much less 1337 speak and off topic discussion. I'll use sleepywood.net as an example since you all probably know what that is. Unlike basil, they are allowed to swear and flame (to an extent). Although this seems like it would fill up the website with swearing and flaming, the rules are still more strict. Any post that is off topic (besides the lolmaple section, equivalent to our chat/fun section) can result in a 24 hour suspension. I think changing the basil system to the system sleepywood and many other forums use would increase the maturoty of the site, and stop all the useless spam. If you voted for the third option, please post why and what you would change the system to.

It would eliminate most of the useless spam (threads about the exact same topic , the "what class is better" or "which job should I choose" threads, etc.). Plus, I don't think there would be as many flamers. Only downside (for some people) is that most of the people on Basil would probably get banned for flaming, trolling, parody threads, language, and other stuff like that.

The thing is, if you want that, you can have it. Basilmarket is not the same, and should never be the same, as SW. Both are different sites, and both seem to have different styles. In chat section, people make threads for entertainment, and you already can't make parody threads, use bad language, flame, troll, and all those things.

Lordofragelets take a notice to this. which site has more visit and is more active? basil or sleepywood...yea im thinking basil -_-. im sry mr.conceited but you need to get over yourself. your not as mature as you think you are. you know why i use this forum and not sleepywood? because i dont like the atmosphere of sleepywood. you like it there? then go there and leave here. this is not the place for you. rules are strict enough as it is. any stricter and it will conform to other boring websites. You change basil rules like you stated so, then the entire basilmarket will change. im tired of hearing the "immaturity" post. the ppl saying that are basically those who are looking for a website with a serious atmosphere. if thats your problem then find a website like that and stop whining on basil. there are a lot that has that kind of atmosphere. but there are a few that has the freer atmosphere of basil. so yea...i think the rules are good enough. and ts, i know i have said this already but get over yourself and your "maturoty" edit: i would also like to add that it would seem to me that those who want to change site rules just dont want to use both sleepywood and basil at the same time. basically, those who are looking for maturity are using this site for auctioning. they just happen to use this site for forums because they dont want to use both sleepy and basil, and would rather just use one site for convenience. well, if that is so then the rules should indisputably not change. stop being lazy and get use to using both sites. sleepy for forums and basil for auctioning. otherwise, i do not see any reason for complaint.

I've seen people use bad language, flames, trolls, etc. on Basil. Most of the time, nothing happens when you report them. You can see that because they continue to do this and post over and over. I think that Basil has a theme every day because you always have someone that posts a thread about one topic, then a handful of others post about the exact same topic . In the Fun section, there are at least 3 threads that involve the person who posts above you doing something and you reciprocate and do something similar to the person below you. Either the rules are way too loose or the Mods are being too loose with the users.

If the similar thread is still good enough, it will get posts, and get noticed. So obviously there is some want for similar threads. If you don't like that basil works like that, it may just not be for you. I don't think we should be limited to one thread on a topic, especially if threads are actually different.

It's also about the exact same threads , where people post their opinion in a different thread that talks about the exact same thing another thread talks about. Such examples include this thread. Someone made the same thread (without a poll), but reworded what the TS in this thread asked. Then, you had that girl who's nude pics were revealed in MapleStory. There were about 4 threads on that topic, all asking what the link was to those pics. I know the mods can suspend on a dime. I've seen users suspended within 5 minutes of their post in violation. Then, I've see them suspend about 4 hours after the post in violation. As for the similar threads thing, it's still annoying when there's a post that is almost the same as another. There's not much a point to it. If there is a thread about "What stats make your damage higher?" and then a thread about "What items will increase my damage?", then I can see a point to a thread that is similar in that way. But, rewording stuff and adding one more question or statement that one TS said and then posting that in a different thread has no real purpose since that extra question or statement could have been posted in the initial thread, where it would have more of a purpose. lordofrage said: "oh, im sry. you dont see them getting banned? i didnt know you were god. are you all seeing? can you check on everyone's live and see whether they are banned or not? yea, i dont think so. is it not possible that perhaps the time period of the ban was up? ppl dont get banned for months are weeks that much. its by severity of the crime. its not the rules are way to loose nor is it the mods. it is you and nothing more." Edit: Here's one of the flamers that I was talking about. I never said I was God or all-seeing. So, quit exaggerating please. If you wish to flame someone, please do it on another thread.

Posting threads like that would probably get the second thread closed, and a possible suspension depending on the context.

nerdbomer said: "Posting threads like that would probably get the second thread closed, and a possible suspension depending on the context." Like I said about that girl who's nude pics were exposed on Maple, there were at least 4 threads that all involved exposing the link (which was eventually done). The threads weren't closed down or deleted. They were left until they were abandoned, in which a few other people revived them in new threads the next day. The only thing that I know was done was that the girl's IGN in MapleStory was blocked (added as a bad word on Basil so you couldn't type it).

I don't have an issue with the rules, i have an issue with the mods.

If something breaking the rules doesn't get caught, adding new rules would be a useless solution. More rules=/= higher chance to catch someone for breaking rules already in existence.
