Radeon 4850 GFX Card problem on Bootup.

When I turn on my computer with my Radeon 4850 in a PCI E 2.0 slot, the fan's speed sounds like its at 100% and the computer makes no beeping sound as like it is booting up. With a spare graphic card I have, don't really know what it is, but its an old one. When I put it into a normal PCI x16 slot and take out the Radeon 4850, everything boots up perfectly. Theres a beep, the screen loads, and crap like that. The motherboard I am currently using is an XFX 630i. The other problem with the Graphic Card / PCI slot is that when I connect a cord to the graphic card (for the monitor, forgot what it was called), the monitor does not detect the graphic card. If it is the graphic card, would I be able to exchange it? I don't think I have the warranty crap anymore cause I was supposed to register it online but my mom threw away the box. If its the motherboard, would I be able to RMA it cause I got it on tigerdirect? Everything else is fully functional. My RAM, PSU, and harddrive all work correctly. Edit: Er.. wrong section. Mods please move? :D And this happened only AFTER I updated Vista x64. Don't think that would be it though.

Well, as you said that it was a "old" video card, i don't think it will function properly what PCI x16. Giving the video card model would help and i will try to solve the problem. Why are you trying to replace the video card? I think the Radeon 4850 is good enough. If you are having problems, consult a specialist and try not to do it yourself cause i did that once and it messed my PC. Hope this is some use to you.

Most GCs these days use the PCI-E slot maybe your motherboard can't handle it or it can be power supply problems or yea.

The 4850 is pretty enough one of the top of the line video cards. OT: You might not have enough power to supply the whole computer rig with energy to boot.

I came up with the power supply idea >:O, yea the card is probably hogging your supply if that's true then I would say get a refund on the card and buy one of the higher 3 series ATI radeon cards or lower end 4 series

What card did you have before the 4850? Did you remove the old drivers and all registry entries related to the old card?

Its a custom built gaming comp. I found out that my Radeon 4850 card is burnt. Anything else that is connected to my monitors cables were detected except my Radeon 4850. My PSU is 600 Watts so I don't think that'd be the problem as a 4850 requires 430 watts. Would it be possible for me to exchange it as I didn't sign up for diamondmm, but I have been using the card for only 4 months? My mom threw away the box before I couldve registered the product for the warranty.

The GFX card only requires 430 watts. It just randomly burnt out after a Vista update. I left it on while sleeping to update and it turned off, but in the morning when I tried to turn it on, it failed to boot up the XFX logo. Would this be able to handle Zakum? Its integrated. link I have a Z Run tomorrow for my Helm so if not I'm going to use my sis's bf's laptop. I had a Radeon 4850 as I like to play Crysis / Crysis Warhead so.. :D.

Leaving ur comp on for extended periods of time can do no more than damage to ur computer. its just lowering ur computers life quicker especially if ur comp maxes out the ps

The only thing I have is a lower-end motherboard and 4G corshair ram other than the Radeon 4850. I don't think that maxes it but who knows. And it was on for only around another hour to update and turn off. Edit: And a non-overclocked Q6700.

Leaving your computer on won't make it die before it becomes obsolete as long as everything is functioning properly. A 600W PSU is fine, as long as it's reputable. Who made your PSU?
