So how's the Mature Discussion/Debate forum going?

Yeah... it's been in the approved-but-not-implemented-yet area of the Suggestion Discussion thread for quite some time and I have a tendency to well... debate, while I don't find the Chat section an appropriate place for some of the topics I have in mind (still within limits of rules for the Mature forum, though). Just really a check up on the progress.

I have an idea for a way to distinguish mature from immature. First, MrBasil lets people who are well known to be mature to get in the forum. But, the people who are in the forum decide who can come in afterward. Basically, anyone who has access to the mature thread can "mark" other basilers as mature if they see maturity from their posts. Then, the mods can review a few posts picked at random from that person, and decide whether or not they are mature enough to have access to the mature forum. This way, the mods don't have to review everyone , and non mods can't let their friends in who may be immature.

I guess Mr. Basil will release it when he feels it's needy. Right now I think we are doing fine with just chat, fun, site and tech. As it is, basilmarket it becoming less and less active so the new forum would lead to making basil looking more inactive than ever. And the fact that how everyone wants selective members only :X

Why do I have the feeling that either chat will die, or both sections will be alot less alive. I mean, I kinda consider mature discussion as an important part of chat.

Well, we could make it so that the existence isn't readily apperant, that way it wouldn't affect chat island. basically, only approved of people will even see the seperate forum, so only they can read and post in it. everyone else could go on without reminders of its existence, and have knowledge about it after they are approved. Also, there would be no way to see on a person's profile whether or not they have access, that way theres no spamming pms about it.

It was exactly the same thing, but you really can't expect people to stay shut can you?

Hmm.. I remember this from somewhere. Wasn't Dimo the one that suggested it or something? Well yeah. It's a good idea but it's hard starting it up while avoiding as many bad repercussions that it might have :/

I'm not sure Basilmarket could handle it to be honest. Many people would argue that as long as its fully moderated etc then things will be fine, but the truth of the matter is that a majority of people here could not handle a serious debate on a controversial issue without people getting offended, flamed, gained up on, etc and then you'll get mass complaints over trolling and flaming where there is none.

ROFLMFAO! Not this again...... This idea has been shot down so many times already. This kind of section just isn't suitable for the average Basiler. This kind of section would prohibit and exclude too many members if it was to be based on some sort of intelligence requirement. This kind of section is already on Sleepywood. Go there instead!
