Alright, this has been bugging me for a while. And I won't find out for a while... Seeing as how Basil has all these geniuses out there... I'd ask you guys. Anyways, I took my Organic Chemistry Nomenclature exam... and this question keeps bugging me. click What would you call this molecule? I don't care if it's an impossible molecule or the common name for it, I just want to know the IUPAC name for it. I put the answers we came up with as links so that I wouldn't sway opinions. Some of my friends call it this. I , myself, and some other friends called it this. I just want to know which one would be correct... and probably... why if I'm not correct. XD Thanks guys! out. --le IT -EDIT- Okay... I think I have factual evidence supporting me? When I googled the two answers that WEREN'T mine... I got this. link & link Which basically comes up with nothing. When I googled my answer I came up with this. link If you click on the first link, and look down a bit, you'd come to this : link This is the image of my picture... just upside down. (the line leading to nothing means there's a CH3 there for those of you who wonder) So... am I right? o_o

CH3 is in the methyl group. I think it's methane. It's a hydrocarbon. One carbon, three hydrogens.

W/e lool i didnt even read your explanation :X

CH3 is methly and CH4 is methane. And your friends are wrong and you are almost right.You have to write "cyclohexyl" in brackets.Pretty much what someone in 1st page wrote.
