I *think* the problem is you took on too much, too early. First try copying your maple avatar, by hand. Try to get a mirror image of those pixels. After trying over and over, you'll develop your own drawing styleand, in time, can use that style to make a great portrait-like drawing. =)

I can see that you put a lot of effort into this. Although it's not the best, it's a good start.

yea, i know it could use work.. and the porportions to the face-- good tip. I just think it looks very portrait like. I loved doing the hair. my notbook is just a standard size one. thanks for the compliments.
